Tammy’s Tuesday Weigh In

Hey everyone! I hope you don’t mind if I keep this weigh in short and sweet today. I had a really long day at work and my eyeballs feel like they are ready to pop out of my head. Thanks a bunch.

First let me get my stats out of the way.

This week marks my 7th weigh in. By now I was hoping to be under 140 pounds but looks like I am still exactly where I started. You can see all my weigh ins here. Basically, my weight has gone up and down… then up again… then down…then up. You get the picture. This week I am down 1 pound. No cause for a major celebration but I did feel a touch of excitement that I did not gain.

As I said last week, I feel like I hit a plateau and all that I have been currently doing has led to maintaining my weight instead of losing it. However, I did step it up with exercise this week which I am really happy about. I said that I needed to sweat and that is exactly what I did. I made the time to run on my treadmill and do some strength training 3 times. I felt awesome afterwards! I know my goal was 4 days but I was still happy with 3. This will continue to be my focus until it becomes habit. Exercise is so important to breaking through this plateau. I found this article useful about exercising over at Cooking Light.

One of my main motivations this week was my husband decided to join me in making exercise a priority. With both of us working full time exercise just fell off the priority list over the years. It happens to the best of us. Anyway, just seeing him get his clothes ready the night before, so he can work out in morning, really motivated me to do the same thing. We also talked about a plan to keep exercise a part of our weekly routines. So I feel pretty good that we are going to make this work. I am trying to convince him to do the weekly weigh in with us but he may need a little more convincing. Wouldn’t that be fun!

So how about you? What are your stats this week? Also let us know if you have any tips, triumphs, or challenges you would like to share.

Really bad week… don’t even know where to start. I was so excited with my loss last week I was really shocked at my gain this week. Like I’ve said before, the weekend is really what messes me up, although I felt I did better than normal this past weekend. I guess I just need to focus more closely on what I’m eating/portion sizes and increasing my activity level more :-/

Good job on exercise this week! I think the strength training will really help you break through this plateau :-)

    • I am right there with you on the weekends. During the week it is so easy to keep everything under control – at least for me it is. On the weekends I tend to pick more especially when I am testing recipes.

      Hang in there girl!!

  2. Ok, I’ll join in too :)

The ONLY way I even lose a little weight is by exercising at least 5 x a week – otherwise I either gain or just maintain. I used to own a candy shop, and after closing that, I lost the majority of my weight fairly quickly because I was no longer taste testing everything for quality control, LOL

Had to bump it up a notch because nothing happening for a week or so. Moved on to Jillian Michael’s Shed and Shred and it has kicked my rear this week. Seeing muscles I have never seen before! :)

  4. Congrats on a good week! :) Well, I am relieved to not have gained any pounds – thought for sure I had, due to being called out of town and not getting exercise in while away from home. SW- 127, GW- 110, CW- 125.6. Been exercising 3-4x a week since Jan. 1 (except for last week), but total W.loss has been so little. :( I am happy to be establishing an exercise habit though! :)

  5. Tammy,

I am right there with you with the constant up, down, up, down of my weight. It’s sooooo frustrating! Great job on getting on that treadmill this week! :D I have a feeling if we keep being consistent with our exercise, sooner or later the weight will HAVE to start coming off!

    Yay!

    CW – 171.6
    GW – 135
TL – 7.6 (lost 1 lb this week)

I have to say I’m happy with where I’m at but I wish it would go just a touch faster! I lost 1 lb this week despite going on a 4-day girls’ scrapbooking weekend at a B&B. I was very conscious of my eating and if I didn’t absolutely love something, I passed just to keep calories under control. I was also able to will myself away from the bottomless M&M bowl until the last night. I’ll consider this week a big success! Still doing my C25K routine and signed up for a 5K next month!
