Tammy’s Tuesday Weigh In

I am so happy that I decided to post my weight every week. While I don’t want weight to be the only reason I eat healthy and exercise I find it to be a great way to hold myself accountable. Also, I am luvin everyone that has decided to support and/or join in on this effort – just so you know you can join in at anytime! Besides writing this blog, I always went at losing weight solo so it is nice that I now have a community of people just like me working towards the same goal.

I will probably say this every week but posting our weight is for accountability purposes only. It is to measure our progress as we put healthy habits into place. This is not a competition! My hope is that you will be inspired and motivated as you post your weight and view others each week. This is not to keep track of who can lose the most weight and in a certain amount of time. Personally, I hate weight loss competitions. I feel it makes us focus on what we can do to beat out another person instead of what can we do to be the best version of ourselves.

Let’s get to our weigh in. At this point in our journey, numbers don’t lie. Sure someday if I decide to be a body builder or acquire a lot of muscle the number on the scale might be off. However, those things I am not, so for now the number on the scale is telling me the truth – fortunately or unfortunately.

Tammy's Tuesday Weigh In

This week I am weighing in at 148 lbs – down 1.5 pounds. Here are my stats:

SW:177

CW: 148

GW: 125

Total WL: 29 lbs

How do I feel about that? Good but also meh. Sure, my weight went down and my goal is not to lose more than 2 pounds in a week anyway but I know I did not focus as much as I could have. I feel that my weight loss is more the result of me not eating an abundance of Christmas cookies rather than me focusing and being disciplined about my actions. I was definitely intentional about my food and did a good job planning ahead of time and not eating past 7pm. However, I did not follow through on my food journal everyday so I know extra mindless calories were sneaking in. Also, for some reason I can not rally around working out. I got on my treadmill twice but my goal is to exercise at least 4 times a week. So overall I am happy but I know I can do better.

Moving forward into this week I am going to place laser focus on getting onto my treadmill 4 times. I feel good about my menu plan so I am not too worried about the food but I need to get this exercise thing under control.

So there are my triumphs, challenges, and goals moving forward. What about you? Enter your stats and please feel free to let us know how your week went.

  1. Thanks again for putting yourself out there and prompting us to be accountable! Here are my stats this week:

    SW: 197.6
    CW: 189.6
    GW: 150
    Total WL: 8 lbs

Only major change this week was adding water and subtracting one soda a day (love my Mt Dew!).

    CW: 135.5

    Total WL: .5 lbs.

Between two birthday parties and Christmas, I’ve gained a little bit during the last two weeks. Excercise took a backseat, and I definitely did not eat well. :( I’ve exercised three times since Saturday, and I’m getting back in the swing of things!

I’m thrilled that I lost but feel I could have been better prepared. I only exercised one day last week. My plan for this week is to throw away the chips, exercise five days for 30 minutes/day and follow my menu plan.

    • Forgot to say that I also am very pleased that you’re sharing your weight and making us all more accountable.

Total- I actually gained from last week ( about 1/2 pound). So this week was a eye opener for how I really need to stick to a plan becasue it isnt going to happen on its own. It also showed me how I can lose weight but if I am not conscious of what I am eating (portion size, etc) then the weight can slowly creep back on. I started the Couch to 5K running program yesterday and I went back on counting my weight watchers points yesterday too. So hopefully with a plan in place next week I will stay on goal to get healthy! This accountability is good for me!!

Total lost this week was 4.2. I exercised 5 out of 7 days, simply walking and Zumba Wii game. I also follow along with My Fitness Pal. It was a major eye opener how different I eat when I track!

  8. I am a bit behind in my blog feed reader, but I just found your Tuesday Weigh In. I think it’s a great idea to put it out there to keep ourselves accountable. 2 years ago, I found SparkPeople.com and was successful at losing 47 lbs, going from 199 lbs down to 152 lbs. One baby later, an out of control sweet tooth and a severe lack of motivation has brought me back to 173 lbs. So frustrating! I’ll be happy to join your Tuesday weigh-ins to keep myself accountable.

I list my SW in 2002 as a reminder that I’m in this for the long haul. Yes I’ve lost over 60 lbs, but more important I’ve KEPT it off for over 10 years. Now it’s time to tackle the last 30!! I worked out 6 days this week and all in all I’m pretty happy with my progress.

  22. I just found your website this morning and have been browsing some of the posts. You’ve been added to my Favorites list, and I’ll be checking back in regularly. Kudos to you for posting your weight, and kudos to all the commenters for doing so as well.

I started on WW last week (tonight is my weigh-in, so I don’t know if I’ve lost anything this week).
    SW (Jan 8, 2013): 195.9
    CW – don’t know yet

Thanks for the inspiration to remain accountable!
