Freezer Cooking Weekend Challenge {Update}: Homemade Frozen Pizza

Well, another freezer cooking weekend challenge is done – homemade frozen pizzas.

The last month or so has been very busy for me so completing these mini challenges every weekend have been helpful in keeping my freezer filled with different meals, starters, and snacks. I plan on fitting in a large freezer cooking session in the next few weeks, once my schedule slows down, but for now the mini sessions are working fine.

This weekend we had dance pictures in addition to dance classes – it was a lot of driving back and forth. With careful planning I was still able to fit in making pizzas for the freezer. I made most of the dough on Saturday and then a couple batches this morning. In the afternoon I had to bring my oldest to one more dance picture and then I needed to run some errands – so I did not start preparing the pizzas till about 3:00. Once I got started they were a cinch to make.

I decided to make 3 large pizzas and 8 individuals. I actually made 4 large pizzas but my family was hungry and wanted one today.

After I par baked them I sat down, took a break, and watch a little mindless TV for ½ hour.

As I started to put the toppings on I realized that I was running out of sauce and pepperoni – oops poor planning on my part. As a result, I made 3 large plain cheese pizzas (one has ½ pepperoni) and left the individuals plain. I am fine with that because I can add the toppings later when I make them. Just having these ready in the freezer will save me so much time during the week.

I wanted to make breakfast sandwiches but did not have the time or energy. Looks like I will have to go old school and actually make breakfast in the morning.

I did make a batch of rice to eat with our dinner tomorrow – slow cooker Thai pork (which by the way I made into a slow cooker freezer kit last weekend).

What about you? Did you get any freezer cooking done this weekend?

  1. Thank you so much for posting this idea! My husband does the grocery shopping and purchases a lot of processed foods when they are on sale. I am really trying to get my growing family (and my want for a shrinking waistline) to eat more home prepared foods. I was recently thinking about making pre-made pizzas to freeze as we have Pizza Fridays. This has inspired me to do just that for tomorrow night’s dinner. Thanks so much for motivating me! I’m also looking forward to trying some of your other recipes.

    • Frozen pizzas are one of my favorite meals to make. They are so easy to prepare and to make the night of. You will love having these ready!

  2. P.S. How did you wrap them and how long do they keep?

I love the personal pizzas – why didn’t I think of that before?!

  1. [...] As tasty as this pizza is I wouldn’t exactly call it kid friendly – unless your tots like spicy foods. To solve this problem I just made the kiddos their cheese and pepperoni pies. This was simple and not an issue at all because I made each pizza individually using 7 inch homemade pizza crusts I prepared a couple weekends ago. [...]
