The basic formula to losing weight is eating less and moving more. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong. This basic concept, as we all know, has many more layers to it. Those layers consist of healthy eating and lifestyle habits which create the foundation to lasting weight loss and maintenance. However, that is still easier said than done.
Breaking old habits and replacing them with new healthy ones is a process and takes time. Some habits take longer than others and what is easy for one person may be harder for the next. Remember with any lifestyle change it is important to move at a slow and steady pace, be flexible, and never stop educating yourself. And of course don’t give up! Weight loss is a journey not a destination.
It has been over a year since I started my own personal weight loss journey. I am not the same person I was when I started. While I developed many good habits that have moved me closer to my weight loss goal I can still learn more.
Healthy habits need to be realistic and ones you can stick with. Don’t focus on changing everything at once. Take it one habit at a time. Once you feel confident then move on to the next challenge. Remember any time a bad habit is removed you will be closer to a healthier lifestyle. Any successful change takes a plan, effort and time. Once these healthy changes become integrated into your daily routine you will begin to experience the benefits without having to think much about it.

To help you, and myself, move towards healthier weight loss habits this year I would like to introduce a new series focusing on one healthy habit a week called 52 Weeks to Healthier Weight Loss Habits.
Each Tuesday I will post a discussion topic focusing on a specific habit that can help you move towards a healthier lifestyle and ultimately achieving your weight loss goals. My promise is not to promote a change that I wouldn’t do myself. Like you, I am a busy mom with limited time so I completely understand what is realistic to expect from us. Additionally, each week, I will provide a slow and steady action plan along with resources to help you replace unhealthy habits with the healthier ones.
Of course, each habit is just a suggestion and I don’t want you to feel like you need to take on every habit I post. We are all at different stages of our weight loss journey and not all habits will fit in perfectly to your lifestyle. Also, don’t feel like you need to master each habit within a week. That is not realistic. Involve yourself in the series at your own pace.
The main goal of this year long series is to start a discussion each week on the small changes we can make to lose weight and live a healthier life style. I want us to share our experiences, offer support, and to learn from one another. These conversations, I feel, will help keep us accountable to our goals (aka New Years resolutions) past January 1st
To continue the conversations across the blogosphere I will be providing a linky every week for bloggers to link up posts sharing their experiences with creating healthier habits and losing weight. These posts do not have to follow the series exactly. Just keep us updated on your progress. I think others would find this beneficial. I know I would. So if you have a blog make sure to link up every week. I just ask that you share this series on your blog so others can join in. I hope to have a blog button made for this series in the near future.
If you don’t have a blog you can continue the conversation in the comment section and also on the Skinny Mom’s Kitchen Facebook page.
Ready to get started? Great!! Come back this Tuesday when I post the healthy habit topic for week #1,

I’m really looking forward to your series. Your last post was great too!
Thanks Jessica!!
