Weekly Healthy Family Friendly Weight Loss Menu Plan

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Memorial Day weekend. Mine has been filled with family, fun and of course food. I am happy to report that even with temptations being plenty I still was 2 pounds lighter at weigh in! I guess choosing turkey burgers over mystery meat hot dogs did serve me well ;) This means I am now at 141 pounds and if all goes well I will for the first time in over 12 years be below 140 at my next weigh in. It almost seems too good to be true that I only have 6 more pounds to go in order to reach my goal weight of 135. My ideal weight is 125 pounds but let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.

Anyways, to keep my eye on the prize my menu plan will continue to reflect 1300 – 1500 calories a day. In addition, I am going to try my hardest to get on my treadmill at least 3 times this week.  We will see how it goes but I have to say I am feeling pretty motivated right now.

The menu this week feature lots of easy family friendly recipes for the grill. It is suppose to get up to 86 degrees here which means the less the oven is on the better. You will find some family favorites along with new recipes I am testing out.

As always so you can easily fit this menu into your busy schedule during the week here are my tips for preparing these dishes ahead of time.

Popsicles made and stored in freezer.

Vegetables grilled and stored in fridge.

Turkey burger patties made and stored in freezer.

Buffalo chicken wrap mixture made and stored in fridge.

Taco mixture made and stored in freezer to be taken out night before it is on the menu.

Scampi sauce made and stored in freezer to be taken out night before it is on the menu. Shrimp added after the sauce is heated up,

  1. Homemade pudding pops!!! I can’t wait for this recipe! Sounds like a yummy summertime snack!

  2. I’ve noticed that there’s a pattern in your breakfasts.. must be good to have it everyday, I gotta try it! :)

    • I am such a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast. I love my breakfast sandwhich and of course my coffee. I almost don’t feel normal without it every morning. Sometimes I try to switch it up with oatmeal but not that much.

  3. I love turkey burgers! I love how you vary them :)

  4. Your title says Family Friendly, and I’m just curious about that… I try and minimize snacks in the house and attempt to keep fruits and veggies easy to access in the fridge. However, I have two kids that are under doctor orders to gain weight and a husband with a sweet tooth. I successfully lost 30 pounds a few years ago, but I found it to be REALLY hard to keep up the healthy eating and exercise when I haven’t gotten any real support (encouragement, yes- support, no) and I’ve gained all the weight back. So, I didn’t intend on writing so much here but I was really wondering if everyone in your family happily eats what you make or if it’s been a struggle to make your healthy changes.

    • Hi Nickeletta. Honestly I feel that weight loss and maintenance will be a battle for the rest of my life. It is never easy…though I do feel it has gotten easier.. I wish my kids happily ate everything. They do try everything but if they won’t eat it then I typically will have brown rice and chicken for them. I always try to have healthy meals that I know they will eat on hand. Also I have found ways to cook healthy versions of unhealthy family favorites like pizza and tacos. This has actually helped get my family on board a lot. I actually put together a post of winning the dinner time war that gives a little bit more insight on what I do. Here it is http://www.skinnymomskitchen.com/2011/06/01/create-a-menu-plan-that-wins-the-dinner-time-war/

Don’t give up mama! We all have our ups and downs. That is normal. Try to find a menu and lifestyle plan that works for everyone in your family. You may have to try different things but keep trying. Soon living healthy will just become a natural part of your life.
