Scrumptious Red Clam Sauce With Whole Grain Linguini

Dare I say this may be one of the best tasting red clams sauces around? Well if you ask my kids and hubby that’s what they would say. This simple recipe requires only 5 ingredients and takes about 30 minutes or less to make.

Ingredients

3 tablespoons of olive oil

3 cloves garlic chopped

1 28oz can of diced tomatoes

2-3 tablespoons of tomato paste

2 6.5 ounce cans chopped clams

Step 1.

Heat oil in a medium sauce pan. Add garlic and saute for 1-2 minutes. Keep a close eye on the garlic because you do not want it to burn.

Step 2.

Add in juice from the canned clams. Set the clams aside. Bring juice to a simmer then add in diced tomatoes. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer for 10 minutes.

Step 3.

Add in clams and simmer for another 20 minutes

Serve over whole grain linguini.

Total of 4-5 servings. Serving size is about 1 1/2 cup of sauce and 4 oz (measured dry) of linguine.

Special note:

I personally like the simplicity of tasting just the garlic, tomatoes, and clams however if you want to spice it up then add in some basil and crushed red pepper.
